A little about myself.  My name is Meiko. I call myself a local expert in Saigon!  I am originally from Tokyo Japan but my partner and I have been traveling around the world for his business in cloud based apps. That is the reason why I ended up living in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam.. But I really like the culture and vibrant city in Saigon.

After I graduated from college, I worked in U.S, then I moved to Singapore and I worked for hospitality industry.  After 4 years I quit my job then I decided to move to Ho Chi Minh with my partner.

Whenever I moved to new countries, I went to find various restaurants and shops.  In Tokyo, we found Miyabi.  Miyabi restaurant is located near Roppongi and they had best Wagyu beef and Teppanyaki menu.  I got to know the restaurant owners by visiting there quiet often.  It was very natural to be friends with restaurant owners because we often visited same restaurants and chef and owner remember us.  During the Christmas holiday in Spain, we bar hopped for good tapas around main street in Barcerona.  In Singapore, I was addicted to popular “Chilli Crabs restaurants: Jumbo chilli crab” in riverside.  In the heart of Saigon, I found Vietnamese restaurant inside of old french style house called  “Cục Gạch Quán.”  During our stay in Hanoi, the city was too noisy and polluted but luckily we found a oasis! It’s called  “Lantern lounge” with hundreds of colourful lanterns and delicious Hanoi food.  The good memory stays when you find what you love!  I believe that no matter where you are, the life is so much more fun if you try different things and visit exciting new places as well!

Though it was not easy to find necessities in Vietnam when I first moved here in 2016.  I was always looking for good clinics, international supermarket and shops for buying baby clothes and food.  Each times I had to heavily rely on friends at each meet ups to ask them where to get my necessities.  In Vietnam, the price range widely varies from local shops to international shops so more you research, more you can save money. I realised that it is usually very accurate to try out the places where my other international friends recommended me because we have almost the same international standard in selecting things.

Happyhinz’s mission is to review and recommend all the great places in 1 simple website!  We are  wishing to help many international families and tourists to enjoy some activities and to find hidden treasures in Vietnam!
